The Asutifi South District is one of the 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana, and forms part of the 6 of Municipalities and Districts in the Ahafo Region.
The District was carved from the then Asutifi District in 2012 and has Hwidiem as the capital and it’s about 3.2 kilometers away from the mother District Capital, Kenyasi.
It lies between latitudes 6°40’ and 7°15’ North and Longitudes 2°15’ and 2°45’ west. In terms of land area, the District covers about 597.2440 sq. kilometers.
The District shares boundaries with Asutifi North District to the north, Ahafo Ano North Municipal to the east, Asunafo North Municipal to the west, Atwima Mponua District to the south-east, and Asunafo South District to the south-west.
The population of the District according to 2021 population and housing census stands at 68,394 with 34,932 males and 33,462 females.
