The workshop was under the theme: “Making Science Attractive at the Basic Schools”, concentrated on new approaches of teaching Science to consciously develop their skills to whip up the interest of children in studying the subject.

In an interview, Mr Kenneth Kelly Essuman, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the area, told Ghanadistricts.com that the training was funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND) and sought to deepen the teachers, knowledge and understanding of the subject’s content relevant to children in the classroom.

He therefore advised teachers to reflect on their teaching practice skills in order to make the subject interesting to children, and also praise pupils as a form motivation.

He charged teachers to upgrade their knowledge in order to encourage the study of Science, adding that, they would be monitored in their schools to encourage and support them.

Mrs Marther Acquah, the Municipal Director of Education, said teachers remained key actors in promoting education and reiterated the need for them to constantly upgrade their knowledge.

She assured that her outfit was committed to the professional development of teachers towards achieving quality education for all.
