The Mfantseman Municipal with its Administrative Capital Saltpond forms part of the 22 Metropolitan, Municipalities, and District Asseblies (MMDAs) in the Central Region and one of the 261 MMDAs in Ghana.
The Mfantseman Municipal is located along the Atlantic coastline of the Central Region of Ghana and extends from latitudes 5* T to 5* 20’ north of the Equator and longitudes 0* 44’ to 1* 11’ west of the Greenwich Meridian, stretching for about 21 kilometers along the coastline and for about 13 kilometers inland and constituting an area of 321 square kilometers.
The Mfantseman Municipality shares boundaries with Gomoa West District to the east, to the west with Ekumfi District, to the north with Ajumaku Enyan Essiam District and to the south with the Gulf of Guinea.
The population of the Municipality according to 2021 population and housing census stands at 168,905 with 78,033 male and 90,872 female.
