Afigya Kwabre North District

The Afigya Kwabre North District is one of the 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana, and forms part of the 43 of MMDAs in the Ashanti Region.

The Afigya Kwabre North District is carved out of the Afigya Kwabre District Assembly as one of the 38 newly created and upgraded District Assemblies in 2018.

Created with LI 2333, the Afigya Kwabre North District Assembly has its capital as Boamang.

It was inaugurated on March 15, 2018 alongside other 37 newly created districts.

The District is located in the central part of Ashanti Region of Ghana between Latitudes 6 0 840 ’N and 7 0 17’ N, and Longitudes 1 0 70’ W and 1 055’ W. The District has an area of about 228 square kilometers representing 0.94% of the land area of Ashanti Region.

The Afigya Kwabre North District is bounded by Afigya Kwabre South to the south, Atwima Nwabiagya North District and Offinso Municipal to the west, Sekyere South District to the east and Ejura Sekyedumasi Municipal to the north.

The population of the Municipality according to the 2021 Population and Housing Census stands at 73,330 with 36,608 males and 36,722 females.
