
St Augustine’s College has clinched a seat in the Grand Finale of the 2025 National Science & Maths Quiz with a final score of 46 points after a fiercely competitive academic challenge against Pope John Senior High and Minor Seminary, and Amaniampong Senior High.
The auditorium buzzed with anticipation as enthusiastic spectators filled the seats, showing their unwavering support for their schools.
In the opening round of the contest, the teams faced challenges as they missed several questions. Pope John Seminary, however, set the pace for an intense competition. The teams gradually took turns answering questions to build points.
The questions in this round seemed challenging as schools missed questions and refused to claim bonus points. After an intense round, Pope John Seminary led with 13 points, followed by St Augustine’s followed with nine points, and Amaniampong SHS scored eight points.
The second round kicked off with St Augustine’s College and Pope John SHS eagerly tackling the Trustur AI Speed Race questions. Pope John Seminary maintained their dominance with impressive precision, setting the pace for an intense contest.
By the end of the round, they extended their lead with 15 points. St Augustine’s College added two points to reach 11, while Amaniampong SHS faced a tough challenge, losing points for incorrect answers but managing to recover slightly to end the round with 10 points.
The Prudential Life Insurance NSMQ Star round followed, featuring a challenging Mathematics Problem of the Day. While Amaniampong SHS struggled to find their footing, the AUGUSCO and POJOBA boys rose to the occasion, both securing perfect scores of 10 to the delight of their supporters.
Ahead of Round Four, Pope John Seminary and St Augustine’s College effected a tactical substitution that defined the fate of the competition. Pope John excelled in the JuPay Money Transfer True or False Round, leading with a total of 37 points.
The Round appeared easy for all schools as they correctly answered the questions posed by the quiz mistress. The room was filled with tension as Pope John Seminary missed two consecutive questions, paving the way for the AUGUSCO boys to lead after answering correctly.
Pope John Seminary followed closely with 35 points, while Amaniampong significantly improved with 23 points.
The GOIL Super Bonanza Round filled the room with tension as St Augustine’s College and Pope John Seminary eagerly awaited the riddles that would determine who would proceed to the finals. St Augustine’s College swiftly answered three riddles, booking their seat in the Grand Finale. Pope John Seminary picked one riddle and followed with 38 points. Amaniampong SHS exited their first-ever Semi-final contest with 23 points.
In terms of cash prizes, St Augustine’s College won GH₵3,400 for the Prudential Life NSMQ Star Award, GH₵2,000 from GOIL Super Bonanza, and GH₵2,760 from Momo Money Zone. Pope John SHS & Seminary won GH₵2,280 from Momo Money Zone, GH₵600 from GOIL Super Bonanza, and GH₵3,400 for the Prudential Life NSMQ Star Award. Amaniampong SHS also won GH₵1,380 from Momo Money Zone
