For Ghana’s 2024 presidential election, which is set for December 7, key candidates include Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia representing the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former President John Dramani Mahama of the main opposition, the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Alan Kyerematen, previously with the NPP, is running as an independent candidate after leaving the party.

Other contenders include Christian Kwabena Andrews from the Ghana Union Movement (GUM), Hassan Ayariga of the All People’s Congress (APC), and several independent candidates, including Nana Kwame Bediako and George Twum-Barima-Adu

On 28 October 2024, Madam Akua Donkor, the presidential candidate for the Ghana Freedom Party died after being suddenly falling ill.
